Summers demand special care for hair; Tips for skincare routine for glowing, hydrated skin; more

The scorching heat is here again to tan your skin. Here are some tips for a summer skincare routine that will help you maintain glowing, healthy and hydrated skin.

Here are some tips for summer skin care:

  • Hydrate with moisture intense treatments. Transitioning from colder temperatures can often mean that our hair length and ends are dehydrated and dried out. Summer swims in chlorinated water which can also dry out hair.
  • Switch to sulphate free hair care if you haven’t already. Summers are often accompanied by oily hair and scalp and investing in a good sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner will not only help keep the oil in control but will also help balance the pH levels of the scalp, preventing any seasonal irritation or allergies.
  • Tie up your hair to not only limit the exposure to sun but also to avoid sweating. Sweaty hair is no fun! You can try hairstyles ranging from updos to braids, ponytails, buns or twists.
  • Staying hydrated is key to healthy skin, especially during the summer when you’re more prone to dehydration. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and eat water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables. This will not only keep your skin hydrated but also improve your overall health.
  • Invest in a good antioxidant serum during the summer. Not only does an antioxidant serum hydrate your skin, but it can also protect your skin from environmental damage. It helps to boost collagen production, and will scavenge harmful free radicals to prevent skin damage.
  • Over-showering, or showering in water that is too hot, can lead to over-drying your skin, leading to inflammation and even summertime eczema.
